How to get your viral marketing campaign off the ground

Marketingsherpa has done a useful survey of the best promotional tactics to get your viral video/ widget/ other campaigns off the ground. Contrary to some myths, it's definitely worthwhile spending $ on getting your viral promotion going, unless of course you already have massive distribution. Some fun for Friday - make my logo bigger!

Check out this little video (unfortunately not embeddable nor shareable on Facebook).
This is a neat campaign that has apparently gained some viral traction - but could have done much better in tying it to the actual product/service (it is some agency willing to code sites for you). It also could benefit from the standard Facebook/Myspace/Addthis/Gigya modules so people can spread this easier (and they could track it easier!). Still, fun 60 seconds for a Friday!

2000 Bloggers

2000 Bloggers is a fun viral idea that is spreading pretty quickly around the web. It shows how you can use free software, a good idea and some blogging to create a decent amount of buzz and a lot of links for participating bloggers like me. Really enjoyed this one.
